Do what’s right, not what’s easy! 

We’ve all heard it a thousand times. We’ve all been in these situations, and we’ve all done what’s “EASY” at least once or twice. 

AND that’s ok! 

What’s not ok is letting what’s “Easy” become the habit… 

Everything we do today affects who we become tomorrow. Every decision we make strengthens a neurological pathway in the brain. Either for the good or bad. Every time you choose to do the easy thing, instead of the right thing, you are shaping your identity. 

The right decision and the easy decision are usually two different things. Wrong is wrong, even if everybody is wrong; right is right, even if nobody is right. We have a tendency to choose the easy one, even though we know it’s not the right one.

So how do we strengthen our ability to “do what’s right”?

  1. Determine your own core values and live by them. Make them a part of your decision making process!
  2. Say no to the crowd – People and situations will tempt you all the time. It’s important to stand your ground and remind yourself that just because it’s what others may want you to do or it’s what the group might think it’s “cool” doesn’t make it right.
  3. Take the first step – Instead of over thinking how a situation might play out, be bold and make the first move. Once you do, the wheels are in motion and this momentum will carry over to more first steps. 
  4. Learn to love the grind – Nothing great in this world ever came easy. Modern Culture today is too often showing or selling us a quick fix. Don’t get consumed by this. More times than not, the obstacle is the way. 
  5. Dare to Lead – Being a leader takes courage, it takes vulnerability, and almost always comes with failure. Good leaders are those who know failure is inevitable and yet still continue to put themselves out there and do the right thing!
